Robust testing would, in theory, help to reduce the number of people for whom tracing would be required, as it would allow authorities to intervene, and request isolation and quarantines, sooner. In some Asian countries like South Korea, which instituted widespread testing and tracing quickly, society has been left more open because authorities there are confident that, if and when a new case arises, they can contain it.
